I see a lot of people using GBA and GBA SP controller with the cable to play on the gamecube, and since I haven't found a controller apealing to me, i want to give a try with thoses. Sadly, I don't have the cables, the games, and not even the gamecube.Does someone managed to play with a GBA or GBA SP on a pc with USB?

If you use the Dolphin emulator, you can hook up a Gamecube controller to USB adapter, which will work perfectly. Dolphin plays Gamecube and Wii games and has great controller support.

Since it's possible to use a GBA as a controller on Gamecube (for FF:CC, for example), you can get a GBA to Gamecube link cable. I would bet that Dolphin would support it through the adapter, since Dolphin is an awesome piece of software.So the question is: Can Dolphin support the Game Boy Player which allowed GBA games to play on a Gamecube?

I'm not sure, but if I were you I would look into it. Check out the Dolphin wiki for starters.Still, it's a bit of a stretch. When you're going through this many steps (GB GBA GB Player GC Dolphin) it's easy for something to go wrong. Yes, the difficult part is that when you play on a real gamecube gameboy player, you launch a disc, that launch the cartridge, and that enable your GBA to be used as a controller.Furthermore, I'm not even sure that it will be allowed: it would mean emulating a gamecube, emulating a gameboy player, emulating a gameboy cartdrige (RIP emulation accuracy).So, a difficult, if not imposible thing to do, to have a simple way, like just an adapter GBA USB, sadly, I searched everywhere and such thing doesn't seem to exist. You're allowed to play video games any way you like. Speedrunning isn't controlled by anyone. It's true that you're not going to set an indisputable world record this way, but who cares? You're allowed to do whatever you want.As for the original problem, remember that GBA controls are nothing but a D-pad, two buttons, plus L and R. There are quite a few USB game pads which have equivalent buttons, like the retro-themed NES and SNES controllers. You're allowed to do whatever you want.And no, not at all. Of course I know that, but take note that you had to add the condition 'to be classed in a certain category.' That is of course true, but why should I care about that?Speedrunning is not the same as competing. You don't need anybody's permission to play games quickly. Nor do I think it should go without question that we assume people orient their activities around the leaderboards. It's a bit like saying that a runner must only run 100m, 200m, 400m, etc, because those are the Olympic events.

A runner can run without a trophy as incentive, and a speedrunner can play without posting to leaderboards. And if that sounds crazy to you, I would invite you to do some self-reflection about your activity. Well the fun thing is that i'm using a Snes controller for now, connected to my pc with an adapter that also does NES controllers, and it works like a charm.But I'm not sure if it is me that doesn't like that, or if my controller is really old, but the D-pad and the buttons are waaaaay too loose, I end up making extra steps when I want to turn, so losing times, my inputs don't register sometimes, and in the menu, when I press down, it does it twice, almost everytime.So, the GBA looked fine to me, it sure is smaller, but the harder feel on it was in fact what I searched. I should try to clean it up yes. I don't really now what the results will be, since if the buttons are getting soft, I suppose it is because of the sillicon getting old, so unless I change that, Not sure of how effective it will be. But yeah, I'll try to do that right away, thanks for the tip!EDIT: After cleaning it, without a doubt, it's waaay better. I still have some difficulties to naviguate, but I don't have any more problems with input not detected or stuff like that.

I suppose I just have to get used to the controller and play some more. Thanks again!.
